Hot Hot Heat

So, in an effort to get out of the house, we escaped to the air conditioned cover of DiscoveryPlace. It now costs a whopping $25 ($7 of which is parking alone! Gah!). Anyway, both kids got a long afternoon nap, which made the money well worth it. I am happy to pay for peace and quiet. I would love to thank a very pregnant Leslie (who looks stinkin' amazing at 39+ weeks) and Sam for inviting us today. Sam always gets Lily good and tired. Surprisingly, they did really well. Lelise and I only had to yell like 50 times or so (good combined average for us!)

Multicolored shadows are so much better than those regular grey ones!

Colin was happy at first, he loved the noise and the lights, but he got pissy pretty fast. The good news is, that I can always throw him on my back in a carrier for a nap. So, he managed to get a sweet catnap in while the big kids ran amuck.

The jars or marbles are 25 lbs. Lily and Sam both weigh a bit over 30. They thought they were super strong!

Playing dress up at the circus exhibit

Those of you old-school DiscoveryPlace fans will be sad to note that they took out the touch-and-feel Aquarium, where the kids could reach into the water and hold starfishes (OMG, i just wrote STARFISHES?! Okay, 4 month old nightwaking has now hit a fever pitch and poor grammar must be the result) and horseshoe crabs. The good news is that they added an exhibit on poop. Yes, fecal matter. This is Sam and I'm pretty sure that is Camel Poop. It could be Zebra poop because they had that too. 'Tis good to know if we were lost in the desert, our kids could readily identify the scat of large, foreign animals.

Leslie and I both noticed how both of our kids gravitated to the things that bored us the most -- engineering stuff. They liked this gravelly stuff that looked like kitty litter and then a bunch of plain wooden blocks. These smarty pants are cheap dates. Next time, we may skip DiscoveryPlace and head straight to walmart.

(Btw, they totally didn't build that. They did, however, try and huff and puff and blow it down, sine we wouldn't allow them to knock it over with their hands)
